The Newsome High School Chorus invites one and all to its Annual Madrigal Dinner on Thursday, December 5 and Friday, December 6 at First United Methodist Church, 121 N. Knights Ave. in Brandon beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for this feast fit for a king are just $25.

The event, an annual fundraiser for Newsome’s chorus program, started with one sold-out performance and has evolved into a popular seasonal event. Members of the school’s Chamber Choir will don medieval style costumes and join Newsome’s Choral Director, Jeff Bogue, in serenading guests and regaling them with skits and jokes.

“The Madrigal Dinners are a really nice way to ring in the holiday season. Guests will be transported back to the Renaissance through costumes, music, skits and dances,” said Bogue. “The Newsome Chorus is composed of a talented group of kids who work very hard and would really appreciate the support of the community,” added Bogue.

The chorus is raising funds to help offset the cost of several off campus events including the Candlelight Processional at Disney’s EPCOT Center on Wednesday, December 11. The chorus successfully auditioned for the opportunity to participate for a second year. In addition, the chorus will travel to Williamsburg, VA in the spring to compete in a music festival.

There are only 100 tickets available for each night’s performance. The ticket price includes a dinner of roast chicken, sides, bread, dessert and all of the wassailing you can take. Order forms can be downloaded at and are due by Monday, November 25.

Completed forms can be dropped off at the school located at 16550 FishHawk Blvd. in Lithia or mailed to Newsome Chorus c/o Linda Farella, 6130 Ibis Park Dr., Lithia, FL 33547. For more information, please contact Patty Hughes, Newsome High School Chorus Boosters President, at
