Cherrysinside)Eat, Drink and be Cherry! This has been a popular motto in our community for years. Ever since the first Cherry’s opened in Ybor City in 1994, there has always been one around in the area. Cherry’s began to expand in 1996 and was a franchise in 2001. The FishHawk Cherry’s will be the 18th restaurant that has opened in the franchise. Many may be familiar with the Cherry’s on Adamo, or used to dine at the location on Bloomingdale, but there is a new Cherry’s in town. It is located right in Park Square and features indoor and outdoor seating. The outside patio is a nice choice for an evening dinner when the weather is cooler and breezy.

Both the Cherry’s on Adamo and the Cherry’s in FishHawk are owned by brothers Scott and David Schlarbaum. Scott runs the FishHawk Cherry’s, while his brother runs the location on Adamo. Once the lease was up on the Bloomingdale location, Scott began to look around for the perfect place to build his next Cherry’s.

“We are excited to be in FishHawk, this is a great community,” said Scott.

He said he really enjoys the atmosphere of Park Square and the FishHawk community.

“All our kids play baseball in FishHawk, and the teams come here to Cherry’s afterwards to eat,” said Scott.

Cherry’s is a sports friendly place. The televisions are always turned on to sports games, baseball during the summerCherrysOutside) and football in the fall. Cherry’s is also family friendly. It wants to focus on families who are looking for a place to go on evenings and weekends.

Cherry’s FishHawk will have its grand opening on Saturday, June 7, the first day of summer break. It is inviting families to kickoff the summer with them starting at 5 p.m. and they will be open until 12 Midnight. There will be a DJ, games and other fun events. Scott also said they are hoping to launch live music regularly at the restaurant as well, and will be planning for music events starting around mid-August.

Cherry’s FishHawk will have all the great and familiar food that is at its other location. Burgers, wings, sandwiches, salads and kid’s dishes can all be found on the menu. All of the burgers are half pounders and wings come in mild, medium, hot, fire, cajun, honey BBQ, teriyaki, garlic parmesan and lemon pepper. Scott also mentioned he is looking into a veggie burger to accommodate vegetarians.

Cherry’s FishHawk is located at 16144 Churchview Dr. in Lithia and is open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. daily. Call 324-8912 for takeout orders. For more information, e-mail cherrys903@yahoo.com.
