Christmas in July at Grace Methodist

Grace Methodist Church is hosting its Second Annual Christmas in July Bazaar on Saturday, July 26 from 9:30 a.m.–2 p.m. There will be about 50 vendors selling embroidery, crafts, jewelry, pet supplies, stained glass, candles and more. Local authors will also have tables selling books and signing autographs. Admission is free and the youth group will be on hand selling food and drinks.          

The vendor fees raised from the bazaar benefits the social-justice group, Grace United Methodist Women, Lithia chapter. Its mission is to foster spiritual growth, advocate for justice and develop leaders. Its main focus is groups that support women and children both locally and abroad. HealthSource Offers Free Health Screenings

A new school support program founded by HealthSource Chiropractic Progressive Rehab and Wellness will provide funding for local schools, while helping to relieve pain-related issues for students and members of the community.

The program will provide free health screenings (a $189 value) in exchange for $15 donations to the schools in Brandon, Riverview, Valrico and FishHawk. The screenings will track down even the smallest amounts of pain. The $15 donations will be accepted at the office located at 166 E. Bloomingdale Ave., Ste. B until Friday, August 1. Adventures Archery is holding summer camps for kids 8 – 16 years old. The mission at Brandon All-Stars is to teach respect for one another and promote physical fitness and the art of cheerleading.

Brandon All-Stars offers classes for every age and skill level including preschool, parent-tot and toddler. Ages 6 – 18 are grouped by age and skill level with up to six different tumble classes a day.

The All-Star Prep program is an introduction to the sport of All-Star cheerleading and is at a lower price range. It offers two All-Star Prep seasons, September- December and January-April. Students will attend two events with the program and get to experience what full year All-Star athletes get to experience.

Jacob Fowler Memorial Scholarship Announces 2014 Recipients

The Jacob Fowler Memorial Scholarship was founded in memory of Jacob Fowler, a former instructor at Bell Shoals Baptist Church that passed away.

Susan and John Prestridge of the Tutoring Club of Valrico were friends of Fowler’s for more than 20 years and started this as a $500 scholarship for a graduating senior from Bell Shoals Baptist Church. The Fowler family has graciously donated additional scholarships the past two years, and over $3,000 in scholarships has been awarded in the last three years.
