XmasAKid'sPlacelogoDebbie Ploor, owner of Orange Home Accessories located at 1046 Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico, will host Christmas in July to benefit A Kid’s Place on Friday, July 25 from 6-9 p.m. The public is invited and is asked to bring items that are needed at A Kid’s Place. Customers who do this will receive 10 percent off a purchase and a $5 reward card for future purchases.

The event will feature wine, light hors d’oeurvres and chocolates by The Original Leena’s Chocolates. Customers will be able to sample some chocolates that are for sale only at the holidays.

XmasAKid'sPlacelogoThis is the third year that Ploor has held a Christmas in July for A Kid’s Place. Ploor said, “It’s a fun event. We forget that non-profits such as A Kid’s Place have needs throughout the year. It is fun to get in the holiday spirit early and help a great organization at the same time.”

Mary Berg, Community Resource Coordinator for A Kid’s Place said, “Christmas in July is one of our favorite events. It’s amazing to see the community come together for the children at A Kid’s Place. When Dottie (Berger MacKinnon, our founder) decided to locate A Kid’s Place in Brandon, I don’t think she could have ever imagined how much support we would get from this community. Together, we’re all making a difference in the lives of these great kids.”

The items that A Kid’s Place needs are just like the items that everyone needs to run their household. The items include 13 gallon trash bags; Mr. Clean Erasers; Lysol or Chlorox wipes; bath towels; and wash cloths.

Ploor said, “When I first visited A Kid’s Place, I was impressed with what they do. This is a great opportunity for anyone in the community to help. You will get to meet some of the staff from A Kid’s Place, have a nice night out and get a jump on your holiday shopping.”
