Nicole Schoen began at the Osprey Observer as an intern in 2006 the summer before her senior year at Durant High School and continued to work as a freelance writer after she completed her internship.

After high school, she attended the University of Central Florida (UCF) and majored in journalism with a minor in sociology.

After graduating from UCF with her Bachelor’s degree, she picked up freelance writing again with the Osprey Observer in 2013, and that same month she was hired as the Multimedia News Editor in July. In April of 2014 she became the Layout Editor.

Co-worker Michelle Colesanti said,  “I love working with Nicole because of her ‘sunshine’ attitude. She always has a smile and remains positive, which helps others in the office maintain that same disposition (including me). It’s a breath of fresh air.”

In her spare time, Schoen freelances for The Messianic Times, a newspaper for the international Messianic Jewish community. She is also a dancer and takes classes at Judy’s Dance Academy and is part of the dance team at her church, Beit Tehila.

She is also a thrift store junkie and continuously frequents Secondhand Savvy’s. She loves nail art and comes to work in fashionable outfits with matching nail polish. She is a major foodie and is a big fan of Coldstone’s Cookie Don’t You Want Some.

In addition to being a foodie, Schoen is a wine enthusiast and enjoys learning about wine, visiting wineries and trying new craft beers. She even took a wine tasting class while she attended UCF in an attempt to learn more about wine.

She likes to spend her days off at local winery Keel & Curley enjoying a wine freeze. She is a blogger and a photographer, and readers can visit her wine blog at winetcetera.wordpress.com and her photography blog at nrsphotography.wordpress.com.
