Brandon ’86 Rotary Celebrates New Water Feature at Playground

Last month The Brandon ’86 Rotary, in partnership with the Parks Department of Hillsborough County, held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the water feature at All Persons Playground in Brandon. The $100,000 water feature was added as part of the park renovation after it was vandalized five years ago. The community and various state and county agencies stepped in and raised the funds for the newest feature. All Persons Playground is located at Clayton Park at 800 S. Parsons Ave. in Brandon.

BC_dance centerThe Dance Center Offers New Classes

Mommy & Me classes are a fun way to pave the way for children ages 2–3 to dance. Mommy & Me classes familiarize young dancers to rhythm and coordination, teach motor skills vital to dance, and teach younger dancers to follow directions. Each dancer is accompanied by either a parent or family member in the class. Classes are 30 minutes long and run from August until May on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:45 a.m. Cost is $30 per month for one class per week.

The Dance Center also announces its Pre-Professional Program for dancers who have the potential, drive and passion to pursue a career as a professional ballet dancer. Dancers will be trained in ballet technique, pointe and variations. Classes run Monday and Friday from 1-3 p.m. from August through May and are taught by The Educational Director, Alice Holden Bock. Dancers must be at least 9-years-old with a minimum of four years of classical ballet training. Acceptance to this program is by audition only. Cost is $60 per month.

Everyone is encouraged to stop in and pledge a donation for a favorite. All pledges will go into a 50/50 for a chance to win.
