When it comes to skin, Dr. Robert A. Norman, a board-certified dermatologist and family practitioner who has been in practice for more than 25 years, advises, “Protect it by not smoking and abusing it by too much sun. Treat it good; it’s your biggest organ.”

Dr. Norman has two offices in the Tampa Bay area, a main office at 8002 Gunn Hwy. and a Riverview office that has been open since 1998.

Dr. Norman and his associates are committed to educating patients on the importance of good skin care and providing high quality care in a comfortable atmosphere. Services include care for eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, acne, moles and skin cancer. The latest cosmetic procedures, such as botox, microdermabrasion, restylane or fillers, chemical peels and sclerotherapy to rid the legs of varicose veins, also are available.

“We are a diverse practice in term of types of patients and conditions,” said Dr. Norman, adding that patients are accepted on a walk-in basis. Unlike many other dermatologists in the area, he offers non-surgical treatment for skin cancers.

Dr. Norman has a long list of accolades. He is a faculty member for five medical schools and has been honored with numerous service and teaching awards, including Physician of the Year (2005) and Distinguished Service Award (2007) in Hillsborough County and Tampa Bay Medical Hero Award (2008). He has written 23 books, including the recently published The Woman Who Lost Her Skin (And Other Dermatological Tales) primarily based on articles he has written in Discover magazine, and Mother Nature, Father Time: Tales of Medicine.

Additionally, he is a frequent medical volunteer and has taken mission trips to Jamaica, Guatemala, Haiti, Cuba and Argentina.

He and his wife Carol have five children. Dr. Norman is very active in his community serving on many service organization boards as well as donating his services. He also is a member of the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce. When time allows, he plays tennis and enjoys trapshooting, biking, kayaking and harmonica.

Dr. Norman’s Riverview office is located at 10422 U.S. Hwy. 301 S., just south of the Dollar General at Murphy Rd. Office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, visit www.drrobertnorman.com. To set an appointment, call 880-7546.
