IRIS personThe holiday decorations have been put away, New Year’s resolutions are made and now Americans are turning their thoughts to another time of year: tax-time.

What can be a confusing endeavor is made more difficult this year with the addition of tax provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Iris Rojas-Davis, owner of Iris Tax Services located at 4331 Lynx Paw Trail in Valrico, has written a book that can be purchased at her office, I Love Hate the ACA Obamacare and the IRS!, which provides a comprehensive resource explaining how the ACA impacts business and individual returns.

“Tax time will still be simple and straightforward for the vast majority of Americans but if you purchased health insurance through a government-sponsored marketplace or received the advanced premium tax credit, you will have to report this information to the IRS,” said Rojas-Davis, who possesses enrolled agent status with the IRS, the highest credential it awards.

Iris Tax Services offers individual and business tax return preparation, accounting, tax resolutions, free tax analysis, financial services and retirement planning.

Rojas-Davis started in the tax industry in 1999 after her father had a particularly bad experience at a major tax provider franchise. He encouraged her to file his return for him. Her client list has gone from one person to more than 600 clients.

“They have told me that I have an unparalleled ability to present material in a way that is easy to understand and implement,” she said. “My clients and peers call me ‘The Queen of the Rapid Refund’ because I have been known to get clients their money fast.”

Odessa resident Daryl Johnson, a retired plant manager for the United States Postal Service, has been a customer of Iris Tax Services for more than 10 years.

“She sits down with me and takes her time to look deep into the tax code to determine what credits and deductions you can claim,” he said.

He is such a satisfied customer that Rojas-Davis now handles his adult children’s taxes.

“We’ve become generational clients,” he said.

Iris Tax Services is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m.–9 p.m. For more information about Iris Tax Services, visit www.iristaxservices.com or to schedule an appointment call 654-5200.
