With just eight weeks off from school, parents and children had to be a bit more creative as well as selective to find ways with which to fill their days this summer. One positive source of outdoor activity is Summer Youth Tennis Camps offering morning and afternoon, half and full day, beginner, intermediate and advance programs, all hosted by the FishHawk Ranch Tennis Club, (FRTC) at 15921 Courtside View Dr. in Lithia.

From learning the fundamentals to brushing up on their basic skills, or just to have fun while enjoying a positive experience, the camp offers young ones, ages 6-17, an up close and personal experience with the sports in a clean, friendly environment under the direction of top notch coaches led by FRTC Program Head Coach Brandon Feldman.

“The camp is designed with the goal to teach basic skills and help young players to stay active this summer, while having fun,” said Feldman, a former Oxford College Tennis head coach.
Feldman is assisted this summer by Coach Danny Lee, who has been with the club for the past four years.

Also on hand to share her expertise and teach the young campers the ins and outs of the sport is Newsome High School upcoming year senior, Tess Studdiford, who led the Wolves to a 2015-2016 season district championship.

During the eight weeks, FRTC has scheduled to offer a Beginning Level, where campers learn forehand, backhand and scoring, while they also play and learn through fun games and drills.
The camp’s Intermediate Level builds on basic skills while developing proper strokes and technique.

With its junior program totaling nearly 150 young players on the top of the list, FRTC offers year round tennis, local tournaments and events, on five clay courts, one of which is always open to be used by local residents.
