Brandon Honda Helps “Drive” Rescue Pet Adoptions Year-Round

A lifelong proponent of shelter animal adoptions, John Marazzi, Managing Partner of Brandon Honda is now making it easier for shoppers to picture adorable pets available at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center (PRC) in their lives and in their Hondas.

Eighteen cardboard cut-outs of shelter cats and dogs are now romping throughout the Brandon Honda showroom at 9209 E. Adamo Dr. to steal the hearts of visitors and raise awareness of all the deserving, healthy dogs and cats available for adoption through breed specific rescue groups, SPCAs and humane societies, or at county-run shelters and animal services.

Local pet photographer Adam Goldberg took photos recently at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center located at 440 N. Falkenburg Rd. in Tampa. Goldberg originally found his passion for photographing animals at the Humane Society of Broward County.

“Rescue animals can be especially hard to photograph when they are anxious and confused in the transition from a home or the streets to shelters,” said Goldberg. “I’ve had to learn how to win their confidence so that they can relax and turn on their true personality for the camera.”

Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center is open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. seven days a week. For more information call 744-5660 or visit www.hillsboroughcounty.org/en/locations/pet-resource-center.

Brew Your Own Beer At Bootleggers BrewworX In Brandon

Bootleggers BrewworX, Brandon’s only Brewery where you can enjoy craft beer and learn to brew it yourself, invites you to celebrate and participate in this year’s Tampa Bay Beer Week during the first full week of March. Local brewers, distributors, and vendors celebrate beer.

This year, why not brew your own? Before local musicians begin to play and the food truck rallies the food on Sunday, March 5 from 12 Noon-9 p.m., right outside Bootleggers BrewworX, you can get a jump on the hops by creating your own mix under the tutelage of the staff.

Be sure to call ahead and reserve your brewing slot. “Many places serve beer,” said Shaun Goeckner, co-owner of Bootleggers BrewworX.

“And a few places brew beer. But we are the only pub in town that teaches people how to make beer.” Bootleggers BrewworX just released new flavors: Lushable Crush IPA, Trappezoid Belgian Tripel, Black Watch Lager & Vienna Vixen. The brew pub also will host the International Women’s Collaborative Brew Day on Wednesday, March 8.

After home brewing beer together for more than 12 years, Valrico neighbors and friends, Mike Pitts and Shaun Goeckner, bought Bootleggers Brewworx in 2015. Last summer the duo added a pub to Brandon’s only brewery, featuring 30 taps and creating what might be a first for the Tampa Bay Area – a public place to make beer and drink beer under the same roof. Pitts is an airline pilot and Goeckner, who owns a tech firm, is a self-described beer geek, who can steep, mash and sparge some mean hops. Bootleggers Brewworx is located at 650 Oakfield Dr. Call 643-9463 or visit http://brewworx.com/.
