Jarod Anda, the new principal of Southshore Charter Academy.

Southshore Charter Academy is a school deeply committed to student success and character development. What sets the school apart is its focus on educating the whole child through strong academics, meaningful relationships and a culture that emphasizes leadership, responsibility and personal growth.

“Our dedicated teachers and staff consistently go above and beyond to provide engaging learning experiences and individualized support for students, said newly appointed assistant principal Bridget Burns. “We also value strong family partnerships and community involvement, which helps create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone on campus. Our commitment to high expectations and student-centered learning gives our students an advantage both inside and outside the classroom.”

In her role, she supports both the academic and operational success of the school by working closely with teachers, students and families.

“My responsibilities include supporting instructional excellence, helping maintain a positive school culture, overseeing student discipline and attendance initiatives, coordinating school programs and events and ensuring that every student has the support they need to succeed both academically and personally,” Burns said.

In addition to Burns, the school has welcomed Jarod Anda as the new principal of Southshore Charter Academy and Shyrelle Felmine as the dean of curriculum.

“I am passionate about building strong school cultures where students, staff and families feel valued, supported and connected,” Anda said. “As principal, my goal is to ensure we provide an exceptional educational experience while creating an environment where every student and staff member has the opportunity to reach their highest potential. My biggest priority is building a strong culture and sense of belonging. I want every student who walks through our doors to know they are valued, supported, challenged and capable of achieving great things. We will focus heavily on academic growth while developing confidence, critical thinkers and lifelong learners. Ultimately, we are preparing the future leaders of our community, our country and our world. We also have a clear academic goal: earning an A school grade. I believe we have the students, staff, families and community support to achieve it.”

Like Anda and Burns, Felmine wants to make an impact on all the students who attend Southshore Charter Academy.

“I love working with our students, families and staff and seeing how everyone comes together as a team to ensure our students are successful and achieving their goals,” Felmine said. “One of the most rewarding parts of my role is supporting teachers, helping them find strategies that make learning meaningful for students and then seeing that growth happen. It is incredibly fulfilling to know that the work we do each day can make a difference in the lives of our students. Southshore truly feels like one big family, and I’m grateful to be part of a community where everyone supports one another and is committed to helping our students thrive.”
