Charlie Briggs, Fishhawk resident and experienced produce marketer, has opened Briggs Family Farms, a local farmers market on Lithia Pinecrest Road in Lithia, Florida.

Briggs Family Farms will offer locally grown fruits and vegetables in addition to seasonal produce.  Fresh produce currently available includes:  ¬vine ripe tomatoes, summer squash, cantaloupes and watermelon.  Pumpkins and a variety of fall squash will be available all season long.

Charlie has been working in the fresh fruit and vegetable industry his entire life.  He currently is the Director of Vegetable Operations for national produce grower and marketer, Wish Farms, located in Plant City, Florida.  He started Briggs Family Farms with his two children, Spencer 13 and Maya 10, who enjoy helping their dad after school and on the weekends.

“I have fond memories as a child working at my family’s farmers market in Delaware,” said Charlie Briggs.  “I’m excited for my kids to share in a similar experience.”

Briggs Family Farms provides local farmers the opportunity to market their fresh produce to residents of Fishhawk and surrounding communities.   Local family-owned farms that currently supply produce to the market include Hunsader Farms, Falkner Farms, Wish Farms.

“My vision for Briggs Family Farms is an opportunity to promote healthy eating and bring families in the community together by offering locally grown fresh produce,” said Briggs.

Briggs Family Farms is located at 5329 Lithia Pinecrest Road, Lithia, FL  33547. Hours of Operation are from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 7 days a week. Call 323-0596 for details.
