Music Showcase and The Florida Academy of Performing Arts (FAoPA) are offering several new and exciting programs this fall. Class schedules vary but some start as early as September 3.

Adult Theatre is a group forming to help students who have graduated high school and want to continue acting, singing and performing on stage either for fun or to help with their musical education. The group will meet on Saturdays from 12:30 to 3 p.m. beginning on September 14.

The Professional Actors Workshop is for professional actors ages 15 and up who want to explore character development, prepare for auditions and learn different types of acting. The group will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The September session runs September 3-26 and the October session runs October 1-24.

The Professional Actors Workshop for children ages 7 and up will allow children to put to use the skills and techniques that they have learned in a Christmas production.  Auditions will be held on October 29 and 31 and classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The performance dates have been tentatively set for December 20 and 21 at 7 p.m.

The Young Performers Workshop is geared for children 7 and up who want to learn all types of acting for TV, movies, commercials and the stage. The workshops will be offered on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Several sessions have been scheduled beginning on September 4. A final show will be performed for each session.

According to Debbie Evans, Director of Public Relations “We are always trying to expand our horizons to create programs that will engage the community. This year, we are focusing on students who have graduated from high school but still want to act either for fun or as a part of their continuing education.”

Music Showcase and FAoPA will continue to offer a full array of programs for acting, show choir and Tot-Time Theatre. Students in the Musical Theatre programs will perform classics shows such as Pirates of Penzance, Mulan Jr., Cinderella Kids and Into The Woods.

All classes are held at Music Showcase located at 402 Oakfield Dr. in Brandon. For more information and to register, please visit www.faopa.org or call 490-2787.
