Here’s a chance for guys to gather for a “wild” night of fun. The Brandon Rotary Club will host its 38th annual Wild Game Night Friday, April 25 starting at 6 p.m. at Lupton’s Boggy Bottom Ranch, a wooded outdoor venue located at 8407 Lupton Pl. off Keysville Rd. in Plant City.

Each year, the guys-only fundraiser attracts men throughout the bay area eager to sample a variety of expertly prepared wild game, which in the past has included venison, quail and wild hog as well as domestic fare like pork ribs and catfish. Authentic Ybor City cigars will be rolled on-site for those who want to purchase one to go along with a drink from the open bar stocked with top-shelf liquors.

As in past years, a highlight of the evening is the chance to win thousands of dollars’ worth of items through silent auctions, raffle and door prizes. In the past, prizes included rifles, shotguns, televisions, guided fishing trips, camping, hunting and fishing gear.

“This is a great opportunity for fathers and sons to enjoy a night out together while helping local charities at the same time,” said Wild Game Night chairman, David West.

West said many men attend Wild Game Night annually because it offers a rare chance to get together with friends they haven’t seen in years. Many a friendship has been rekindled by meeting a long-lost friend at this event. There are even rumors that this event has helped close many a business transaction as well.

All proceeds from Wild Game Night are donated to local charities including Rotary’s Camp Florida, the Brandon Outreach Clinic and the Emergency Care Help Organization, which provides food and clothing to east Hillsborough County residents with emergency needs. In past years, the event has raised $40,000 to $50,000 for local charities.

Donations for tickets are $75 and are available from any Brandon Rotary Club member or by calling Dave West at 927-7174 or Pat Skidmore at 741-3790.
