The 5th Annual Winthrop Art Festival will be held on Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Winthrop Town Centre located at the intersection of Providence Rd. and Bloomingdale in Riverview. The festival will be held in front of the Times Building.

The annual fine arts festival has become an event that the community eagerly awaits for each year. The festival features fine arts, entertainment (the Winthrop Charter School Music Department will perform this year) and much more. In addition, there will be food and beverage offered by local organizations such as the Boy Scouts and the Rotary Club of FishHawk/Riverview.

This is a fabulous opportunity to not only see fine art up close but also an opportunity to meet the artist and purchase fine art directly from the person who created it. The fine art will include weaving, pottery, sculptures, paintings (all media and mixed media), glass and photography.

Inasmuch as this is a juried show, all art entered will be judged by John Hardin of Hillsborough Community College and Debra Bryant, a talented local artist and Director of the Beaux Arts Gallery in Riverview. Awards for Best of Show, First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention will be presented at an Awards Banquet to be held on Saturday, March 23 at 7 p.m.

According to festival organizer and Winthrop Town Centre Artist, Bryant Martinez, “We will have amazing artists who have travelled from very near and as far as Minnesota to be a part of this wonderful event.” Martinez added, “The Winthrop Art Festival has become a proud community fine arts tradition. I am very excited to meet and see all of the wonderful arts and fine organization that will take place in the year’s event.”

In addition to art, there will be tons of activities for both children and adults including a Children’s Activity Tent where they can make festival t-shirts and chalk art; an interactive obstacle course courtesy of the Hillsborough County Fire Dept.; a Water Works Educational and Engineer Section courtesy of the Rotary Club of FishHawk/Riverview.
