Imagine a Saturday morning trip to the home improvement store leading to a professionally- manicured landscape in your own yard. That’s the object of the DIY Network show, Yard Crashers, and they’ve come to the Tampa area several times over the years, using  Riverview’s own Outdoor Impressions as its local contractor.

Jason Smith, President of Outdoor Impressions, says its relationship with Yard Crashers began about four years ago and they have appeared on the show five times since. “We were scouted out by its production team and interviewed with three other companies. It chose us and we have been its “go to” company in Tampa ever since,” said Smith. The most recent episode of Yard Crashers with Outdoor Impressions aired on July 8.

Smith, a husband and father of three, says that while it has some input into how the families are chosen, the final decisions come from the DIY team.  “We offer suggested areas and they ask us where are good communities and great families to consider,” Smith said.  Once a store location is secured, the crew picks an unsuspecting family and offers them a yard beyond their wildest dreams.

Outdoor Impressions has flourished with the publicity from the show and it is the only company in Florida that has filmed with them.  Besides the benefit of national exposure, Smith says there are other advantages to doing the show.  “It’s a blast!  We get to design something that’s so creative, something that’s never been done before and have it documented on film.”

Smith wants readers to know that while the show has given it visibility, it is still a locally-owned family business and it still appreciates its local customers year round. “Yard Crashers is something we do four days of the year. But we do the same and sometimes even more elaborate and creative things for our clients the other 360 days a year. Just because we are on TV, does not mean we are expensive or not happy to work with any budget,” he concluded.
