The Crawford Art Advisory Board at the SouthShore Regional Library has issued a Call To Artists for its first “Six By Six Exhibition: Small Art/Big Ideas.” The Crawford Gallery is located at the SouthShore Regional Library in Ruskin.

Any artist 18 years or older using any medium can enter this non-juried exhibit. The only restrictions are that the art must not be more than six inches by six inches and must be one that can be hung.

Art applications for this innovative exhibit are available at the SouthShore Regional Library Information Desk or online at www.hcplc.org. Click on locations and select SouthShore Regional Library. All applications are due by January 13, 2014 at the SouthShore Regional Library located at 15816 Beth Shields Way in Ruskin.  Artists can exhibit up to three pieces.

Laurie Burhop, Art Coordinator for the library said, “This show will feature all kinds of mediums from painting, drawing, collage, glass, ceramics, metals to fibers.” Burhop added, “We decided to do a non-juried show to involve more artists. By expanding and branching out on the types of shows, it allows for more of a variety of artists to apply.” Burhop elaborated on this by stating, “When we are doing other shows, the artists are usually displaying a large body of work. This type of show allows artists to be able to exhibit without making a huge commitment.”

The Crawford Gallery is open to the public during the library’s normal operating hours. For each show held in the gallery, an Artists’ Reception is held. This is a great opportunity for artists to have their work seen in a public place in a gallery-style setting. It is equally a great opportunity for the public to meet exceptionally talented artists.
