Contest To Name The Grand Oak

Channing Park has a beautiful tree between Wembley Landing and Coventry Grove.  It is a Laurel Oak tree with a circumference of 10.5 ft making it about a 138 year old Grand Oak. Channing Park is asking kids in the community to draw a picture of the tree on an 8 ½ X 11 in. sheet of paper, and name the tree. All drawings should be submitted to the Clubhouse Office by Saturday, May 31. Drawings should include the child’s name so residents who visit the clubhouse from June 1 to 13 can view all the drawings and submit a vote for the name of the tree. The winner will be announced in the next newsletter.

Safe House Program

Channing Park is implementing the Safe House Program in its neighborhood. This will be a positive step in making the streets safer for children. It will give kids a safe place to go in case of bullying, getting lost, severe weather, strangers etc. Once a home is approved as a Safe House, a sign will be placed in the homeowners window letting children know the home is available as a safe place.
