The Brandon League of Fine Arts (BLFA) has issued a Call To Artists for Artworks 2016. The show is open to all area artists who wish to submit original art that has been completed since September 2013. The deadline for submission is Monday, August 8. This is a juried show. There is over $1,000 in prize money available.

Both traditional 2D work and 3D work in media such as fiber, ceramics, metal, jewelry, glass and wood are accepted. 2D work must be framed and wired for hanging. 3D work must not exceed 18″Hx10″Wx12″D and not weigh more than three pounds. Work without proper framing or wiring or any deviation from the rules will not be accepted into the show.

Email entries are preferred and should be sent to chair Sue Downes Allen at sueallenart@verizon.net. Artists will be notified by Monday, August 22 whether their work is accepted.

The chosen artwork will be on display in the Mook Gallery at Center Place of Brandon during the month of September. A reception and awards ceremony will take place at Center Place in September.

The entry fee for BLFA members is $25 for one entry and $35 for two. For non-members of BLFA, the entry fee is $35 for one piece and $45 for two.

Allen said, “This exhibit organized by the Brandon League of Fine Arts is open to all artists in our area, and the awards are significant. It is also an excellent opportunity to display your new work and to share your gifts with the community. Artists down through time have gathered together to exhibit their work, to learn from each other and to make friendships. Brandon League of Fine Arts and their annual Artworks show are dedicated to these ideas.”

Allen added, “We always have first time exhibitors as well as many returning artists. The judge will prejury the show to select only the very best work for inclusion. He or she will act as an impartial judge, selecting a balanced and interesting exhibit.”

“It is our hope that the public will visit the Mook Gallery at Center Place as this show only happens once a year, so we hope they will enjoy this diverse and exceptional exhibition,” said Allen.
