Divas 4 Success is a unique after school program designed exclusively for girls between the ages 6 and 12. Divas 4 Success is located at 6439 U.S. Hwy 301 S. in Riverview. They pick up from area elementary schools including Collins, Frost, Ippolito, Symmes, Sessums and Riverview. The after school program runs Mondays from 1-6:30 p.m. and Tuesday to Friday from 2-6:30 p.m.
According to Breanna Adams, co-founder and managing member, “This is not a daycare center; we offer state of the art programs that challenge our students’ creativity.” Divas 4 Success introduces a new educational approach to learning, which includes the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fused with language and creative arts education. The new approach is called S.T.R.E.A.M.
Xanthe Asberry, co-founder and managing member said, “Most girls connect with liberal arts like arts, dance, music and drama, so we take advantage of their interests and integrate the visual arts into our curriculum.”
While at Divas 4 Success, girls work on homework assistance, interactive study skills, character development workshops, quarterly thematic units, music and movement, life skills enhancements, academic achievement, friendship building, arts and crafts, movies and game. But most of all, girls have fun at Divas 4 Success. Students show off their new talents and skills through performances, showcases and presentations at the end of each quarter.
Rebekah Higginbotham, director of program operations said, “We have found the importance of linking girls’ natural verbal ability to oral and written vocabulary while linking real life experiences to all activities.”
Divas 4 Success was established in 2012. “Divas 4 Success teaches girls everywhere that hard work and determination are the keys to success. We create the confidence and tools needed for future success,” said Adams.
In addition to the after school program, Divas 4 Success offers workshops on Saturdays. The hours vary between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. All classes are designed to build confidence, motivation and team work. All of Divas 4 Success’ camps and workshops embed the following programs: music and movement, life skills enhancement and academic advancement.
