This October, come see the artful quilts created by the members of the Brandon Quilt Guild as they present their 2018 Harvest of Quilts: A Symphony of Colors at The Regent including the Purple Specialty Ribbon Winner (shown here with Lois Cozzi (L ) and Claudia Ingram (R ).

Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Brandon (Quilt Guild) will present its 2018 Harvest of Quilts: A Symphony of Colors on Friday, October 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, October 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Regent located at 6437 Watson Rd. in Riverview.

Admission to the show is $8 for a one-day pass and $12 for a two-day pass. Children 12 and under are free. Group rates are available, and parking is free.

The show features quilts created by Guild members. The show will also feature a celebrity judge, Linda Hall, the quilting violinist of The Florida Orchestra. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in 12 categories. There are also special awards for best hand quilting, best machine quilting and Best in Show.

The judge will be on hand to announce the awards on the morning of Saturday, October 13.

The Guild holds a show every three years. “We try to build on the best parts of the previous shows. We want to showcase our best work, and hone our skills based on the comments from the Show Judge. It is our hope that in viewing the quilts and seeing the handmade gift boutique items, members of the surrounding community will be inspired to learn and grow in the art of quilting,” said Nan Ryan, Publicity Chair for the Show.

Ryan added, “There are so many varieties of design, hand and machine work, functional quilts and wall art that there is something for everyone to enjoy. That variety is displayed in different categories. Seasoned quilters are inspired by each other’s work and beginners have an opportunity to meet, talk and ask questions of members.”

In addition to viewing wonderful quilts, you can shop in the Upbeat Boutique which features over $11,000 in hand crafted items, bid on the silent auction or take your chance with a raffle. Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Outreach Clinic (formerly known as the Brandon Outreach Clinic.)

The Guild has a strong community outreach. They have donated thousands of quilts to organizations such as Brandon Hospital’s NICU, Joshua House and A Kids’ Place. In addition, they make stockings each year which are donated through the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The Quilt Guild was founded in 1989. Members meet monthly on the second Monday of each month at New Hope United Methodist Church in Brandon.
