Carnivores can rejoice at FishHawk Market Days starting in October because Kyle Stanford and Frank Price will have a booth set up and will be selling their locally handcrafted Stanford’s Jerky.

Under a yellow tent plastered with their Stanford’s Jerky logo, meat-lovers will satisfy their craving for protein with flavors like savory Teriyaki, Southern (a blend of tangy and sweet flavors), Slow Burn (a spirited mix of spices that ends with a bang) and Honest JD (a blend of flavors with a kick of bourbon). There is a flavor combination to suit every palette. Customers can sample the flavors before settling on a favorite.

Unlike store-bought jerky, Stanford’s Jerky contains no added colors, artificial ingredients, nitrates, MSG or preservatives. Instead of mystery meat, Stanford’s Jerky is made with premium U.S.D.A. certified London broil for unsurpassed quality and taste. Stanford’s Jerky holds the distinction of being just one of five beef jerky businesses certified through the U.S.D.A. in the state of Florida.

“In addition to being delicious, our jerky is a great high protein snack that’s low in calories,” said Stanford.

Stanford and Price, who make their jerky at their commercial kitchen and shop at 501 S. Falkenburg Rd. Ste. D-20, teamed up two years ago but the pair have had a passion for beef jerky for years. Stanford, a former police officer injured in the line of duty, has been perfecting his beef jerky for approximately two decades.

Customers like Brandon resident Nicholas Berninger agree their jerky is perfect. An exercise enthusiast who needs extra protein, Berninger used to purchase commercial beef jerky until he sampled Stanford’s Jerky at a farmer’s market near his job.

“It’s the best tasting jerky I’ve ever eaten,” he said. “My wife and daughter eat it too so we go through a lot of jerky.”

Visit Stanford’s Jerky’s booth at FishHawk Market Days in Park Square (located at 16144 Churchview Dr.) on Sunday, October 2 from 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
