On Saturday, January 14, the greater Brandon area will experience its very first food truck rally. Brandon’s First Food Truck Rally will take place in front of the Winthrop Pole Barn located at 11349 Bloomingdale Ave. in Riverview from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you like food and want to try something a little bit different, then mark your calendar for this exciting event.
According to Todd Sturtz with Tasting Tampa, “We will have 15 to 20 trucks featuring all types of food.”  Sturtz added, “This is an event that is free and is fun for the whole family. You get to try new foods. Trucks will be there offering everything from mac and cheese sandwich to duck tacos.”
Bryant Martinez, Winthrop Town Artist and food lover said, “Food truck rallies are really fun. I have been to some great ones in Vegas, New York and San Francisco. When we were approached about having Brandon’s First Food Truck Rally here in Winthrop, I thought why not!” Martinez added, “Food truck rallies bring an added flavor of culture to the community.”
Sturtz explained why they started organizing the food truck rallies. Sturtz said, “We wanted to bring heightened awareness to small businesses who are making a living selling really good food. These businesses cannot afford to build a full scale restaurant, but they have the ability to make really great and interesting food.” Sturtz added, “Food truck rallies give everyone a chance to sample a variety of cuisine.”
Tasting Tampa started organizing the food truck rallies back in September. They started with one a month and have now grown to one a week. The food truck rallies can be found all over the area from Tampa to Pinellas County all the way to Bradenton. Now, the Brandon area will be able to experience this phenomenon first hand.
