Moving to its own beat, the founders of Motion Church, a reformed denomination dream of Pastor Aaron Lewis, is leading the Brandon area to think differently about church. Many churches are lively, upbeat and play contemporary Christian music, but there is something different about the beat of Motion Church.

What started as a small vision in Lewis’ apartment in South Carolina 18 months ago, is now taking flight at the Embassy Suites off Hwy. 60 in Brandon. This small group of church planters met at a large congregation in South Carolina, but felt a pull to do something bigger.  Lewis has partnered with three additional believers, John Redgrave, Jacob Johnson and Matt Gilliam.

Since Motion Church’s soft-launch in February, about 40 worshipers attend weekly services as the new church builds its reputation.

“Motion Church exists so that those who don’t know God will be filled with life through Christ,” said Lewis  “I want to know my church on a personal level too, not just as a member.”

Redgrave has been Lewis’ right-hand man since this endeavor first started. Redgrave is a native Floridian with a tremendous love of worshipping through music; he is the leader of the worship team. Redgrave said, “Aaron comes from a relevant background. He has seen struggles and can relate to other’s struggling with addiction or affliction in their life.”

With a “not your typical church” attitude and mentality, Motion Church is hoping to appeal to everyone who wants to know the Lord and those who don’t.  “We want people to just come and then God will do the rest,” stated Lewis.  So far, the church is getting out and meeting people in the community.  “We want to get to know those we are serving,” Lewis mentioned, “It helps us be able to learn how we can help the community.”

Motion Church is currently holding services at Embassy Suites located at 10220 Palm River Rd. in Brandon every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. There is also a place for your infant, toddler, school-aged child or teenager at Motion Church.
