A Call To Artists has been issued by the Eastern Hillsborough Art Guild (EHAG) for the 2014 Florida Strawberry Festival Fine Arts Show. The Fine Arts Show will run from Thursday, February 27 to Sunday, March 9.

This year’s show will be held in a new venue, the Milton E. Hull Building. Debra Bryant, a resident of Plant City and long-time member of EHAG is once again the Chairperson for the 2014 Florida Strawberry Festival Fine Arts Show. Bryant said of the new venue, “The new venue is much more centrally located. This will mean greater exposure for the artists who enter the show.”

This year’s show is greatly anticipated. Artists can vie for over $2,500 in prizes along with the recognition and admiration that comes from exhibiting in a show that is seen by over 100,000 visitors who travel to Plant City each year for the Strawberry Festival.

While this is not a juried show, space is limited. All art entries are accepted on Friday, February 21 from Noon-6 p.m. so artists are encouraged to enter early. Artists can submit up to three entries.

Each entry must be 32 inches by 32 inches including the frame. Miniatures are seven inches by seven inches including the frame and sculptures are 15 inches wide deep by 24 inches high. Youth artwork on paper is to be eight and a half inches by 11 inches and canvas can be 11 inches by 14 inches gallery wrap only. The Youth Sculpture Division has been eliminated from the show.

There are categories for adult (professional and amateur) and youth ages 6 to 17. Only original art is accepted. Oils, acrylics, watercolors, graphics/mixed media are accepted for adults both professional and amateur. Adult miniature and sculpture are also accepted. For purposes of the show, a professional is defined as someone who produces art on an advanced level as a result of training or experience or one who teaches classes or who relies on art-related revenue as a substantial source of income. For the Youth Division, only paintings/drawings are accepted. Artists who enter will have their work judged by a professional. The entry forms and rules can be found at www.ehagfinearts.com.
