The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its biggest event of the year, the 27th Annual Trick or Treat Street. Put on in conjunction with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation and Riverview High School, this event is a favorite of families in the area and each year attracts thousands of people.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 24, 4-8 p.m. and bring the family down to Riverview High School for an evening of fun and safe trick-or-treating.

The purpose of this special annual event is to create a safe place for children of all ages to have fun and share in the tradition of trick or treating while getting acquainted with local businesses, churches and organizations. There are many free, fun activities and children flock to get candy, play games, enjoy bounce houses and win prizes. There are also extended activities and food available at nominal costs.

Alley Cat Pest Control and Bryan Hindman Electric, LLC are the sponsors of Scare Zone which promises some spooky fun for those who dare.

A costume contest for both kids and dogs is a highlight of the event. Registration is $5 for kids and there will be great prizes. Contest times will be: 0-3 years at 5 p.m.; 4-7 years at 5:30 p.m.; 8-11 years at 6:30 p.m. and 12-15 years at 7 p.m. Dog owners are encouraged to bring their canine friends in costume for the Four Paws Veterinary Hospital Dog Costume Contest. Registration will be a $10 donation to benefit C.A.R.E. The contest will kick off at 6 p.m. for all size dogs.

Businesses can participate by dressing up, decorating their booth and distributing candy or small toys to children of all ages. Coveted awards will be presented for best booth design in several categories. There are also many sponsorship opportunities.

“We are thrilled and excited to have such a wonderful group of businesses and individuals participating this year,” said Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tanya Doran. “It is a great opportunity for the community to come together and have a great time.”
