The Tampa Theatre is proud to announce the return of the popular Family Favorites classic movie series. The Tampa Theatre will offer a discounted kid’s ticket at just $8 for ages 12 and younger. Adult tickets are just $10. Movies will be shown at 3 p.m.

Jill Witecki, Marketing Director for the Tampa Theatre said, “This is the only classic movie series for which we offer a child’s price.” Witecki added, “While many of our summer and holiday classic offerings are family-friendly, this is the series that we program specifically with families in mind. I want parents to be able to introduce their kids to some of their own favorite movies from childhood and to see them again on the big screen.”

The fun series kicks off on Sunday, March 26 with Steven Spielberg’s timeless classic, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. The story of a lost and magical visitor from long way away, trying to return home, continues to captivate viewers of all ages.

Next on Sunday, April 2, come see Michael Jordan in the 1996 classic Space Jam. This movie appeals to kids and adults alike, so bring the whole family.

On Sunday, April 9 come see the 1985 classic, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. The movie features a brilliant, bizarre road trip set in a world without functioning grown-ups. This is the movie that catapulted the careers of Tim Burton and Danny Elfman and introduced us to a totally original species of absurdist comedy that is funny no matter what age.

Then, on Sunday, April 16 come see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang starring Dick Van Dyke in an Edwardian-era musical as charming, slapsticky Englishman who is good with kids.

On Sunday, April 23 you can bring the family to see Pete’s Dragon. This is a memorable film with animated characters inserted into a live action movie. The movie has strong character performances and was a step forward for the art form back in 1977.

Finally, the series closes out with The Princess Bride on Sunday, April 30. This movie is truly a timeless classic that everyone, adults and children alike, will simply love. The Tampa Theatre is located at 711 N. Franklin St. in downtown Tampa. For information and to buy tickets, please visit www.tampatheatre.org.
