The Brandon League of Fine Arts (BLFA) has issued a Call To Artists for Artworks 2018. This is a juried show which is open to all area artists who wish to submit original art that has been completed since September 2015. There is over $1200 in prize money available.

Both traditional 2D work and 3D work in media such as fiber, ceramics, metal, jewelry, glass and wood are accepted. 2D work must not exceed 40 inches in any dimension and must be framed and wired for hanging. 3D work must not exceed 18″ H x 10″ W x 12″ D and not weigh more than three pounds. Work without proper framing or wiring or any deviation from the rules will not be accepted into the show.

Artists are asked to bring the work they wish to be considered to Center Place on Wednesday, August 29 between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. Artists may submit up to two entries. The judge will select those pieces that will be in the show that day. Artists will be notified of their acceptance by 2 p.m. that day.

The chosen artwork will be on display in the Mook Gallery at Center Place during the month of September. A reception and awards ceremony will take place at Center Place on Thursday, September 13 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The entry fee for BLFA member is $25 for one entry and $35 for two. For non-members of BLFA, the entry fee is $35 for one entry and $45 for two.

This year’s judge is Jason Shiver. Sue Allen, a local artist and long time member of BLFA said, “Jason Shiver is a well known artist who lives in our community and brings a diverse artistic background to this task. He is a visual artist and a sculptor. Jason works in many media which we see as an asset for judging the various works in our show.”

“Each year BLFA and Center Place reach out to the community by sharing the very best art being produced in our area. It is an open show so anyone may submit work to be juried into the exhibition. We always hope artists from other counties and art organizations will participate,” said Allen.
