The Village Players, a non-profit community theatre, will present “A Christmas Spectacular” beginning with its opening night on Friday, December 6. There will be performances held over three weekends at the historic James McCabe Theatre located at 508 N. 5th St. in Valrico.According to Gail Pierce, “This is a beautiful way to relax and enjoy the magical Christmas spirit.” “A Christmas Spectacular” is an original Christmas production by Domin Pazo, a veteran character actor and director.
Pazo was instrumental in bringing “Les Miserable” to the area when it was most recently staged in Plant City by Plant City Entertainment.”A Christmas Spectacular” features traditional Christmas songs along with original skits with characters such as Scrooge. Pierce added, “This is a fabulous family-friendly night out which celebrates the holiday season with traditional song and original skits. It is an affordable night of entertainment for the whole family.”As has become a tradition with the Village Players, opening night will also be dessert night. Tickets for opening night are $20 per person. A
ll proceeds will be used to help with renovations of the historic James McCabe Theatre. The current goal is called “Operation Climate Control” with the proceeds being used to add additional commercial air conditioning and heating to the historic building.Performances will also be held on Fridays, December 6, 13 and 20 and Saturdays, December 7, 14 and 21. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m. There will be a matinee on Sunday, December 15 at 3 p.m.Tickets are $14 for adults (except opening night which will be $20) and $12 for Seniors, people with Military Identification and students.
