Plant City Community Chorale Spring Concert

With a mission of presenting quality music performance to a wide audience, and to provide opportunities for local singers to perfect their choral performance skills, the Plant City Community Chorale is celebrating its 10th year as a premier singing group in the area. Started in 2008 with fewer than 10 members, the Chorale now averages 30-35 members for each of its four annual performances. In its fourth year under the direction of Claudia Bolano, the choir has grown in number as well as level of performance. To celebrate the beginning of its 10th year, the Chorale will present Sing On! at Eastside Baptist Church, 1318 E. Calhoun St., in Plant City, on Saturday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will include diverse music such as the South African mining song Tshosholoza, so popular it is known as the country’s second national anthem, For Good from the Broadway musical Wicked, Kyrie by Franz Shubert, a triumphant Mozart masterwork Viva! and the spiritual I Hear America Singing!.

The second concert of the year will be the Chorale’s annual tribute to America and its music on Saturday, June 9, also at Eastside Baptist Church in Plant City.

Tickets, $10 in advance and $15 at door, are available at www.pccchorale.org/buy-tickets, by calling 951-5166, and from any Chorale member.

St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church Introduces Saturday Night Worship

St. Andrews UMC invites you to experience its Saturday night Five14 worship service. The Five14 worship experience kicks off on Saturday, March 31 at 5:14 p.m.

Today Sundays are not what they used to be—a sacred day of rest and worship. Instead, Sundays have become another workday, another sports day, another competition day, and the list goes on and on. St. Andrew’s believes that as the culture shifts, the church must shift with it to stay relevant.

“We no longer live in a one-option world,” said Reverend Tim Machtel, St. Andrew’s Senior Pastor. “We want to offer another option to those for whom Sunday morning is not an option. We want everyone to experience God’s grace.”

If you would like more information, visit www.saumc.net or contact Jessica Adams at 689-6849 or Jessica.adams@saumc.net. St. Andrew’s is located at 3315 S. Bryan Rd. in Brandon.
