In the wake of another competitive fall run, the Pinecrest Pilots Football and Cheer organization is once again gearing up to take part in the much-anticipated spring tackle football season, scheduled to begin this month ending in the first week of May.

As of 2013, the Pilots have been a proud member of the Tri-County Youth Football and Cheerleading Conference (TCYFCC), which was created by 14 youth tackle football and cheerleading organizations combining Hillsborough, Polk, and Pasco Counties on the west coast of Florida.

Building on a long-respected history that has been providing a safe, secure, competitive and fun environment to learn tackle football and cheerleading, the Pilots boast of plenty of success on and off the field. Its coaches, parents and, of course, the players are all unanimously excited about the opportunity to face off teams they don’t get the chance to play in the fall.  “Spring football is a great way to keep the teams on track,” said Pilots coach and spring program manager, Shawn Brown. “It keeps the kids in football shape ready for the fall season.”

While the registration for the spring season is scheduled to close later this month, Brown said there is still room for more players and none will be turned away even past the deadline. By playing eight on eight competitive tackle football, the season will see five of the Pilots seven teams this spring represented by players ages 5-15 with the exception of the programs’ Midgets and Varsity divisions. The eight scheduled games including regional playoffs are to be played on local fields, which will likely include the Brandon Lions and the Valrico Rams, with a conference title game scheduled for Saturday, April 12 followed by a State championship on the weekend of April 26-27.  Cost of the spring season is $185 and includes all equipment (except cleats) with practices twice a week held at Pilots Stadium on 7950 Lithia Pinecrest Rd, conveniently located behind Pinecrest Elementary School. While the upcoming spring season is the focus of attention, Brown emphasized the organization’s fall football and cheer registrations schedule now set for two upcoming dates: Saturday, February 8, from 9 a.m. to noon and Tuesday, February 11, from 6-8 p.m.
