Jeanne Burkeson, of Riverview, had a passion to start a Riverview Woman’s Club and with friend, Donna Lee Fore, made the dream come true.

Jeanne Burkeson of Riverview has been thinking about building a Woman’s Club since 2004. While attending networking meetings to promote her and her husband’s business, Square-One Inspection Services, a home inspection business, she along with friend and supporter, Donna Lee Fore, of PF Auto Glass, formed the Riverview Woman’s Club. Fore commented, “I belong to many women’s clubs, but there wasn’t one in Riverview.” The club is a non-profit company and created its by-laws, named officers, opened a bank account, purchased a domain name and are currently building a website.

The club’s calendar is similar to a school calendar and begins in September and ends in May, and dues are $25 a year. The club now has 21 members and expects more at the Wednesday, April 18 meeting being held at Beef ‘‘O’ Brady’s on Big Bend and Lincoln roads in Riverview.

Among the many exciting events it has planned for the new few months are a walk, a cultural event, a tour of the Mosaic office in Riverview and a Zumba event in June. Burkeson says, “It’s a great way to showcase your business.”
The Riverview High School art class is having a contest to design a logo for the club and the winner will receive a $15 iTunes card, compliments of Pat Strickland of Keller-Williams. The ladies of the club will determine the winner at the April 18 meeting.

The officers have been elected by the group and they are: President, Jeanne Burkeson, Vice President, Donna Fore, Treasurer, Linda Greenfield, and Secretary, Pat Strickland.

The goals of the Riverview Woman’s Club are to promote the Riverview community, raise money for scholarships for the Riverview High School students through support from the businesses in Riverview and surrounding areas, and many more goals will be set at upcoming meetings.

The club is currently selling business card size ads for its Website, hoping to create a “shop local” theme. So if you’re interested in supporting the newly-formed club, please contact Jeanne Burkeson at 334-3196 or e-mail her at Jeanne@square-oneinspection.com.
