Dr. Karen Jacobs and Dr. Jaime Montes (holding scissors) along with the staff of the  Medical Group Family Care Center and hospital leadership celebrated a ribbon cutting and officially opened the new center in Brandon on May 1.

The Tampa General Medical Group Family Care Center is now open in Brandon at 214 Morrison Rd. (at the intersection of Oakfield Dr. and Morrison Rd.). This full service family care practice is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jana Gardner, RN, a long time resident of Brandon, is Vice President for Ambulatory Services for TGH. Gardner said, “The purpose of this clinic is to take care of the family from infants to geriatrics.” Gardner explained, “This is new for TGH. We have two other Family Care Centers staffed with internal medicine physicians. For Brandon, we are undertaking a new initiative to broaden access to the whole family and put access clinics in the community.”

The physicians who will staff the Medical Group Family Care Center in Brandon are board certified family practice physicians. The 9,000 square foot facility has 16 exam rooms. When it is fully staffed, there will be five family practice physicians and numerous support staff including medical assistants, medical technicians, case managers and clerical staff.

Think of this group as your medical home for your entire family. The Medical Group Family Care Center will provide a range of care for the entire family. The care they will provide goes from immunizations and treatment of childhood illness to treatment of chronic disease such as high blood pressure and diabetes to everything in between.  “We are bringing the quality and experience of TGH to the community in a nice physician office center,” said Gardner. “We will focus on well care and provide the care through the continuum of life,” added Gardner.

“With all of the changes in healthcare, we (TGH), as a specialty hospital, want to make sure that people have access to our specialists. With our electronic medical records system, your history will be in the system and this will ensure seamless care from outpatient to inpatient care,” said Gardner.

Established patients will be able to get same day access to the physicians. In addition, the Medical Group Family Care Center will be offering sports physicals over the summer.
