For more than 10 years, members of FishHawk Area Networking Group have met twice per month to network their small businesses. But, in that time, with an average of between 35-50 members in attendance at the twice monthly meetings, something more came of the group, friendships.

“In addition to having a great referral network, FANG members are friends, neighbors and the businesses residents can count on in a pinch,” says FANG coordinator, Nan Hager, who is always amazed by the willingness of FANG members to get involved and help out. “We have got a dedicated group of local professionals that you can count on.”

In addition to networking, on the first and third Thursdays at the Palmetto Club, the organization also offers an annual $500 scholarship to a FishHawk student and hosts the annual Back-to-School Festival event.

“We are local, we are right here in the neighborhood and we welcome anyone to come and visit us for free,” added Hager.

For 2013, the concentration will be to send a directory of FANG businesses to every home in FishHawk Ranch to let residents know that there is a local choice.

“We want people to think of a FANG member first,” says Hager, “And to keep the concept of Shop Local alive and well in FishHawk Ranch.”
