The Brandon League of Fine Arts (BLFA) is looking forward to a fantastic 2013 full of great events and opportunities for members. The BLFA is now led by President, Bonnie Phillips, a long time area resident and amazing artist.

Phillips has been a member of BLFA for several years. She runs the fun and interactive Paint It Take It before each of the BLFA’s meetings at 6:30 p.m. “It is a great opportunity for members and prospective members to meet and mingle,” said Phillips.

This desire for camaraderie at meetings and among members and guests is one of Phillips’ goals for her year as president.

In addition to creating a welcoming atmosphere and increasing membership, the BLFA will continue to offer members lots of perks and work towards its stated goal of enhancing the arts within the greater Brandon community.

The BLFA meets on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. (but come at 6:30 p.m. for Paint It Take It!) at Center Place located at 619 Vonderburg Dr. in Brandon. Membership in the BLFA is only $35. With membership, you get a monthly newsletter and advance notification of art shows, exhibitions and workshops taking place throughout the Tampa Bay area.

In addition, the BLFA holds an Annual Member Show at Center Place and the Annual Indoor/Outdoor Art Show, sponsors the monthly artists’ receptions at Center Place, offers scholarships to high school seniors interested in pursuing an arts education, sponsors the Annual ARTworks art show and the Annual Gallery Hop. Essentially, the BLFA is an integral part of the arts community in the greater Brandon area.

If you love art, even if you do not consider yourself an “artist,” come to one of the meetings of the BLFA and see all that they have to offer.
