Children ages 4-14 are encouraged to enter artwork in Center Place’s Second Annual Children’s Art Show. The show is called Little Monsters Create. Children may enter artwork using a variety of media including drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry, clay and wood. The show will be on display in the Mook Gallery at Center Place from Monday, July 7 through Wednesday, July 30.

Dawn Galia, Executive Director for Center Place said, “We love to see our children’s artwork on display. I love to see their smiles when they come into the gallery and see their artwork hanging on the walls.” Galia added, “We love to see little ones exposed to art at a young age. This is a very positive experience for everyone involved.”

The art show is open to all children in the greater Brandon area. All entries must be submitted between Monday, June 23 and Friday, June 27 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Center Place located at 619 Vonderburg Dr. in Brandon. Children can enter up to three pieces. There is a $5 entrance fee per piece or $10 for three entries.

The show will be judged, and there will be awards (first, second and third place) given in four age categories: ages 4 to 6; ages 7 to 9; ages 10 to 12 and ages 13 to 14. An Artists’ Reception will be held on Thursday, July 17 beginning at 6 p.m. Awards will be presented at 6:30 p.m.

2D artwork (including photography) must be matted, framed or wrapped and wired for hanging. No 2D artwork can be over 11″x14″. 3D pieces must not exceed 12″ height x10″ width and may not weigh more than three pounds. All artwork must be accompanied by two typed 3″x5″ index cards which contain the artist’s name, age, title of the work and artistic statement. All artwork must be picked up from Center Place by Thursday, July 31 at 5 p.m.
