All Hillsborough County residents who love to take photographs are invited to submit entries for the 2015 Hillsborough County Fair Photography/Mixed Media Photography Competition. The Hillsborough County Fair runs from October 22 to 25 and from October 29 to November 1. The fair is held at 215 Sydney Washer Rd. in Dover (east of Brandon on S.R. 60).

Entries can be submitted by youth (elementary grades first through fifth); (middle school grades sixth through eighth); (secondary grades ninth through twelfth); and adults ages 18 and older. Participants may enter two pieces per class (black/white/color and digital) in photography and one piece in mixed media photography.

Entries are currently being accepted. Interested individuals can pre-register and receive one free fair ticket. Pre-registration must be postmarked by Monday, October 12 in order to receive free ticket.

The entry form can be downloaded at www.hillsboroughcountyfair.com (click on “competition” and then “visual arts”). Entry forms can be emailed to Brenda Anderson, Hillsborough County Fair Photography/Mixed Media Photography Competition Chairperson, at onemininut@gmail.com or mailed to 1524 S. Photographs must be 8×10 inches and must be mounted on standard 11×14 inches white mounting board. Mixed media photography must be framed and ready to hang using screw eyes and wire only.

All work will be judged by highly qualified judges. The process of judging photography will be based upon visual impact, composition, quality and appeal. The process of judging the mixed media photography will be based upon creative mastery of the combined work including design, color combination and overall creative imagination.

Prizes will be awarded for youth and adult in each category. Anderson said, “Anyone who loves to take photographs or create mixed media using photographs, including students through professional, who are residents of Hillsborough County should enter the show. We even welcome special needs participants.” Anderson added, “Anyone who is creative has a chance to get a ribbon in this competition.”
