FishHawk resident and Davenport’s Daily Delights owner Peggy Davenport gets reflective when she considers the limited amount of time parents have with their children.

“There are about 936 weeks from birth until a child turns 18 and those weeks can fly by,” said Davenport, whose own children seem to be growing up too quickly.

One way to make the most of that fleeting time is to take a few minutes to gather around the dinner table and eat a meal together.

That’s where Davenport comes in. Her business, specializing in homemade takeaway meals, offers customers healthy, homemade, flavorful meals that are fully cooked and ready to eat. The menu changes weekly but features traditional favorites such as burrito bowls, chicken chili and chicken parmesan alongside more exotic choices of chicken shwarma, low country boil and lamb meatballs.

“My menus are inspired by places I’ve traveled,” said Davenport, who finds the exotic ingredients and spices she needs at local specialty stores.

“Some days families are just too busy to cook and that’s where I come in,” she said.

Lithia resident Lindsay Bartlett has been using Davenport for a year. The mother of five is pregnant with her sixth child and said it’s nice to call on Davenport when she just doesn’t feel like cooking. Her kids’ favorites are chicken enchiladas and burrito bowls.

“It’s cheaper than eating out and it’s good homemade food,” she said. “We’ve never had a bad meal.”

Meals are available every Monday through Thursday. Orders can be placed through her Facebook page or by phone. Once the order is placed, customers show up at 6102 Heroncrest Ct. between 4–7 p.m. to pick up their meal. Delivery is available for an extra charge. She accepts cash, checks, Paypal and credit cards.

Meals cost $30 for a full order that feeds four or $16 for a half order that feeds two.

“If you can gather around the table for a quick meal with your family it’s so worth it,” said Davenport. “With my meals, they’re already prepared and the best part is there are no dishes to wash.”
