Plant City native Omar Hill recently began the process of raising funds to translate his inspiring Christian children’s book Jesus, My Friend, into Spanish.

English is not enough for recently published author Hill. Currently, the English version of his children’s book Jesus, My Friend sits on the shelf at Hillsborough County’s public library. However, Hill believes that in a county with such a strong Hispanic community, the book should also be available to be read in the language they feel most comfortable with. This belief has led Hill to launch an Indiegogo campaign to fund the Spanish translation of his heart-warming story for children that will bring them closer to God.

According to Hill, “My picture book shares an important role in the life of young kids to get to know more about Jesus. An informative and whimsical book, I use words that are simple enough for children to understand.”

Jesus, My Friend talks of a kid who decides to stay in because of the downpour outside. Undecided of what to write, his father suggested writing a book about Jesus. He gave his son the necessary details that he would need and shared with him the meaning of sin, the story of creation, the creation of the planets, the story of Adam and Eve, and how Jesus died on the cross for our sins in a way that a child would understand.

Hill has followed the teachings of Jesus. At an early age he was water baptized and later received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the age of 8. Since that time he has been a soul winner introducing others to Christ and even assisting at the children’s ministries at the various churches he has attended throughout his life. Currently he attends the River Church at Tampa Bay.

Often outspoken, Hill has expanded his understanding of the government being a part of the River School of Government’s charter class. During these classes he joined the Convention of States Project. Currently he is attending DeVry University where he is refining the skills to create programs which will both educate and entertain.

The book is published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, and is available through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.
