McGinnis Firm Practice Family Law in Tampa Area

By Nick Nahas

Wendy McGinnis knew since the 7th grade that she wanted to become a lawyer. “My parents would always tell me that I was good at making arguments,” she said. In 2001, she fulfilled her dreams, becoming licensed in Florida to practice family law.

McGinnis went to the University of Delaware for her undergraduate schooling, majoring in political science and minoring in French, and then attended Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey to get her law degree.

In November 2007, McGinnis started her own law firm, McGinnis Law Firm. For 10 years now, McGinnis has served the greater Tampa area, specializing in family law. According to McGinnis, the six years prior to owning the practice, she worked for several private law firms that also practiced family law, helping her learn the ins and outs of the business, which assisted her in starting her firm.

McGinnis practices all areas of family law, including divorce cases, paternity cases, adoptions, name changes and domestic violence cases as well. According to McGinnis, she is very hands-on with her clients. They deal directly with her and aren’t passed off to a paralegal or assistant. She is also a certified family mediator. “I am there for my clients, advocating for their best interests and their rights under the law,” she said.

McGinnis lives with her husband and four kids in the Brandon area. She likes to volunteer in her spare time to help the West Florida Flames Soccer Club. She also enjoys participating in races, such as the Fishhawk Turkey Trot 5K and the Gasparilla Distance Classic.
