A single-vehicle accident on FishHawk Crossings Boulevard in Lithia, delayed residents returning from work on Friday, December 2, after the driver of a late model Ford Windstar mini van had lost control, ran off the road and hit a tree.

Hillsborough County Sheriff deputies and emergency personnel received the call at around 4:30 p.m.

Upon arrival deputies found the van with extensive front-end damage blocking the roadway and the driver of the van injured, although alert and oriented.

The driver was transferred to Brandon Regional Hospital, with possible broken ribs, said HCSO information officer Larry McKinnon.

Normal traffic resumed about an hour following the accident.
