Ruskin, FL – Everyone loves an opportunity to show off their adorable furry friends to fellow animal lovers. On October 25th from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Hillsborough County’s favorite no-kill animal shelter, Critter Adoption & Rescue Effort, Inc. (C.A.R.E.), is hosting a “pawsome” off-leash event for pets, their owners and families. We encourage all members of the community and your pets to join us for the biggest pet Halloween party of the year!

This free family friendly off-leash event will include trick or treating, games and prizes for the children; as well as pet portraits and a pet costume contest at 11:30 a.m. for their canine and feline friends. There will also be food, raffles, a bake sale, and vendor tables for everyone to enjoy. Shelter tours are available for anyone interested.

Additional information about this event can be found on C.A.R.E.’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/careshelter or on the website, www.careshelter.org. Inquiries can also be answered by calling (813) 645-2273. C.A.R.E. is located at 1528 27th Street, SE Ruskin, FL 33570.

For those of you unfamiliar with C.A.R.E., we are a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter founded in 2000 by Dr. Hal Ott, D.V.M. and a group of local citizens concerned about the high number of healthy animals being euthanized each year in Hillsborough County. With a mission of rescuing, rehabilitating and adopting stray and owner relinquished animals, C.A.R.E. operates a small, three acre shelter, which currently houses 15-20 dogs and 35-45 cats. C.A.R.E. is an all-volunteer organization, other than our Animal Care Manager (the only paid employee), and is funded totally by donations, adoption and spay/neuter fees, fundraisers and small grants.

C.A.R.E. is open to the public on Tuesdays through Saturdays between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Visitors and potential adopters may visit any time during these public hours and may call 813-645-2273 for more information or directions.
